In buying jewelry realize that antique tends to mean very different things depending on who uses the word. By definition it should only apply to jewelry that’s over 100 years old, but not all jewelry dealers use the term correctly. 
By comparison vintage jewelry is more contemporary being about 60 years old. Estate is the term used for newer than vintage but not new. Authentic antique and vintage jewelry can be very costly so if you’re on a tight budget consider vintage reproductions instead.
Some of the designers to watch for in vintage bridal jewelry include Sarah Coventry, Coro, Lisner, Eisenberg, 1928, Trifari and Weiss. The beauty of vintage pieces is that they have a lot of craftsmanship behind them. Unlike many modern jewelry designs, these almost appear custom made meaning you can really find something that’s wholly YOU.
Some sellers offer reproductions as genuine vintage (with or without knowing it). Original boxes, pouches etc. up the value of the item, but this is a piece that will continue to appreciate with age. Vintage Bridal jewelry – rings, charm bracelets, earrings, necklaces, hair decoration, chokers, etc – is an investment. You will be able to pass down this piece as a treasure for generations if you take care of it properly.
